A New Chapter Begins
It’s been a couple of months since we last shared an update on what we’ve been up to. Well, today is the day we are finally sharing what’s been keeping us so frickin’ busy!
A New Recruit
If you follow us on Instagram, you’ll know that we adopted our little (or not so little) Cali in September.
Those who have met her will know it takes her some time to get used to new people and dogs too. Over the last couple of months, her personality has started beaming through and she is growing in confidence more and more each day.
Cali is a New Zealand Huntaway cross and adores life in the hippy bus, experiencing so many new things every day. She races around like a cheetah, loves sunbathing, and is a bundle of joy to wake up to in the morning. If she was reading this now, she’d probably want me to add that FRISBEE IS LIFE.
The month after bringing Cali into our lives was a pretty hectic one! It was the run-up to us leaving again for Europe, and this time, we wanted to be prepped and ready as we didn’t have a return to the UK planned for a while…
A Plot of Land
We have lived and travelled full-time on the road now for 3 years or so, and it has been a journey that brought Aidan and me together and allowed us to visit some amazing places in the UK and Europe.
Vanlife is something that has allowed us to find ourselves and dig back to our roots to unearth things we’d forgotten we loved. Nature has always been a big part of our lives, but living in a house or flat, you tend to spend a lot of time inside the four walls. Living in a van pushes you to embrace a new garden every day, get outside, and soak up everything nature has to offer.
With life on the road getting harder in many parts of the UK, we began to feel like we wanted a permanent spot elsewhere in the world that one day we would be able to call home. After several visits to Portugal, we decided to hunt for a plot where we could continue building our dreams and turn our visions into reality.
Finding and buying a piece of land in Portugal is something that has taken a lot of time and mental stress to figure out. It’s a process with a lot of moving parts, and finding a plot with everything we were looking for took a long time.
But, several months later, and a significant dent in our bank accounts, here we are.
Owning a plot of trees in the Portuguese mountains.
It feels like the build-up to reach this point has been such a long slog, but at the same time, we’ve learned so much and now have a permanent piece of the planet we can call home.
Thank you for all the patience over the last couple of months along with the messages checking in to make sure we were alright. Honestly, our brains have been at 100 mph, and now that we’ve moved onto the land, our bodies have been working just as hard to prepare for the wet, soggy weather that’s nearly upon us!
We also need to introduce an old caravan we somehow managed to tow from France on a questionable trailer all the way down to Portugal. We’ve called her Pog and she is a big project we will hopefully be starting soon.
For now, we’re filling our log store, clearing layers of pine needles, and starting to feel very festive!
Sending love from the trees x
