Meet Winnie

There’s a new member of the hippy bus crew and he’s a Honda XR 125L called Winnie. He maxes out a little quicker than Peppé at 65mph and is our new set of wheels to get us to some very exciting places!

Peppé is still our main set of wheels, but having Winnie with us means we can rely less on Peps to get us absolutely EVERYWHERE, and he can instead have some much needed time off - he is 29 years old after all! Our 410D Mercedes has taken us to quite literally the middle of nowhere in Scotland, to dusty, single track mountain roads in Central Portugal. The experience of owning a retro vehicle is fun, challenging (and pretty slow), but we have grown so much over the past 14 months of owning Peppé and we’ve learned a heck of a lot too.

So, what’s the plan for Winnie? When we head back out to Europe in October, he will be the one to take us on sandy tracks, down to rivers and lakes and maybe even to the local shop. Currently it’s only Aidan who’s able to ride Winnie, but in the future we will both be jumping behind the handlebars and nipping off on mini adventures. As for storing the bike, we managed to track down a second hand bike carrier on Facebook Marketplace and Max from @rustyroseadventures welded us an extension piece for our ramp which makes taking the bike on and off the rack a breeze - thanks Max!

While we’re resetting our 90 days before we leave the UK again in October, we’re busy giving Peppé and Winnie some TLC, seeing friends and family and working festivals to build back up our travel fund. Our main income is still remote with teaching English online and freelance writing on Upwork, but festival temp jobs are a great way to top up funds during the summer season. If you want to read more about how we work online and support our lifestyle, we reveal it all in our remote income blog. For now, we’re excited about this new chapter and where we can explore with Winnie!
